In TexasHold’em, the term “fish limping” or “fish limping in” is used to describe a situation where a less experienced or less skilled player, often referred to as a “fish,” chooses to just call the minimum bet (big blind) rather than raising or folding when they are one of the first to act before the flop. This action is commonly known as “limping.”
“Limping” means entering the pot with a call instead of a raise. It’s often considered a passive play because the player is not showing aggression by raising the pot. Fish limping usually implies that the player is entering the hand with a weaker or marginal hand, hoping to see a cheap flop in the hopes of improving their hand. More experienced players may sometimes view fish limping as a sign of a weaker player who might not fully understand optimal betting strategies.
